As graduation approaches, it is important to ensure adolescents with autism are learning functional skills that will help prepare them for employment. During this approximately 3 hour live webinar event, the presenter will discuss the process for selecting goals across a variety of curriculum areas that will help prepare individuals with autism who have limited language skills, cognitive impairment, and/or behavioral challenges for inclusion in the workplace. She will also present strategies to teach these skills. The presenter will discuss an assessment tool designed to help determine whether a job is a good match for the adult with autism. Finally, she’ll discuss how to adapt teaching techniques for inclusive job settings. Time will be set aside for questions and answers.
1. List assessment tools appropriate for adolescents with autism.
2. Describe how to select functional goals to help prepare learners with autism for adulthood.
3. Explain teaching strategies to help learners achieve selected goals.
4. Complete an assessment designed to help select appropriate jobs for individuals with autism
